Freely You Have Received, Freely You Shall Give

First, I want to thank all of you for subscribing to A Plague on Both Houses. Without you, writing just wouldn’t be the same! I’m truly grateful for your interest in my musings and the interactions they generate. Hopefully together we will win the battle for a more decent and sane world.

A few of you have expressed your gratitude by pledging a paid subscription. Needless to say, this is truly heartwarming. In line with Plague On Both Houses community guidelines, some of the comments have been quite amusing.

George Mc said: “Rusere is a marvellous writer and unlike some I could mention hasn't demonstrated any self-immolating quirks. His rejection of the utterly vile Wordpress alone is worthy of respect.”

Note to self: Do some homework to learn about all the possible self-immolating quirks that a writer might fall victim to, and then guard carefully against them. And do not, under any circs, return to Wordpress, even if Substack kicks me off this platform.

Now, I have some bad news for the pledgers – I will soon be turning on payments to graciously convert your kind pledge into the stuff that dreams are made of…in my case, earning my keep from writing and sticking two fingers up at Bastards Inc. I’m a bit of a ways off that dream, but it certainly can’t happen unless I tell the world that I am available to be rewarded.

My labour of love will continue to be available to all subscribers. I have offered my writing freely, you have enjoyed it freely, and so freely you shall give. I have put my faith in voluntaryism, and I’m putting my money where my mouth is.
